The "10:10" Trap & Sovereign Leadership

Have you ever noticed that in almost every advertisement or digital image, a watch is set to 10:10? It’s the "perfect" image of a watch, and AI displays it that way because it’s been fed that standard so many times that it doesn't even question it.

And aren’t we often just like that?

As high-achieving women, we are fed beliefs about how a “good mom” or a “successful leader” should act. We see the celebrated templates—the perfect schedules, the flawless careers, the curated dinners—and we default to that "10:10" image without stopping to ask: Does this version of success actually feel true to me?

The Cost of Following the Template

When you lead according to a template you didn't write, you aren't leading—you’re performing. This "default mode" creates a specific kind of exhaustion because you are trying to maintain a brand that people expect, rather than evolving into who you actually are.

Sovereign leadership is the willingness to evolve and step into a new era without apologizing for it. It is a reminder that leadership—whether at home or work—doesn’t come from following a template; it comes from trusting what’s authentic.

How to Break the 10:10 Cycle

• Notice the Defaults: This week, pay attention to where you are running on "autopilot" patterns simply because you think you "should."
• Question the Standard: Ask yourself, "Does this standard support my energy, or am I just trying to look 'consistent' for everyone else?"
• Shift to "Sovereign" Mode: Give yourself permission to upgrade how you show up through new boundaries and clearer standards. This doesn't make you inconsistent; it makes you self-aware.
